Taking a mini-vacation

A scheduled Drs. appt. made it necessary to be in Toronto for 2:30, Wednesday, which meant we would not be done with that until 3:30. (not a good time to drive home from Toronto) Soooo, Wayford and Linda conspired and came up with the idea that we should stay in a hotel and see Sound of Music on Thursday night(which was a beautiful presentation). Could we get tickets to see the play on Thursday night and come home after the play. Or, why not just stay two nights in the hotel??? O.K., we can do that! Then, to our surprise Linda and Marcia gave us tickets to see the Raptors on Wednesday night. Wow! Two big events in one week, plus two nights in a luxury hotel. Now we have to get maps out to determine the walking distance from the hotel to the two events. We're good walkers and with so many others on the street it would be quite safe to walk those areas. Little did we know the temperature would be down to 0 degrees F. As I began to look at the hotel amenities I discover that the Toronto PATH (an underground tunnel which has about 1200 shops and lots of food courts) leads directly out of the Sheraton and right to Air Canada Centre as well as within about two blocks of the Princess of Wales theatre. However, for two country bumpkins that PATH looks a bit confusing. When it is 0 degrees one can overcome confusing! When it is 0 degrees we could even pay a valet to park our car!!! The PATH turned out to be a real blessing. There were a few times when the signage was not clear and we were standing there looking like real tourists looking at our map of the PATH when someone would come to our rescue. We got to the venues on time, even with time to spare. We only left the underground tunnel to walk the two blocks to the theatre. The only glitch was at 2:00 Friday morning when the fire alarm began to ding. We were only on the 9th floor and the stairs were just outside our door. We did get our coats and boots on and get ready to evacuate but were instructed to stay where we were, the fire dept. was there checking things out. We then got an "all clear" and went back to bed. Buffet breakfast was amazing. This was included with the package deal we got. They had everything on the buffet (except biscuits and gravy)and it served so elegantly. A wonderful couple of days for these two oldies.
Pitures are Wayford in the PATH, Raptors Logo on basketball court, City Hall with Nathan Phillips Square in foreground, waterfall from the window of the Hotel, and Wayford and Wilma relaxing at the Hotel.

I'm so glad you did this, and had such a great time. The picture of you in the hotel is really good.
